European State Lotteries and Toto Association (AELTE)

The European State Lotteries and Toto Association (AELTE), or simply European Lotteries (E.L.) was created in May 1999 as a result of the merger between the European Association of State Lotteries and Lottos (AELLE) and the European Section of INTERTOTO. Its main goal is promote cooperation amongst the members of the association.

The association's fundamental principles can be summed up as follows:

  • Promote cooperation amongst the members of the association, the European and international gaming industries, the institutions of the European Union and the different European governments.
  • Provide its members with accurate information and effective support.
  • Establish a forum for the exchange of technical and educational experiences, as well as information.
  • Cooperate with the WLA and other regional lottery associations and sports betting companies.

The EL's decisions are adopted at a General Assembly of the association, which is held every other year. In addition, the Executive Board (of which LAE's Managing Director is part) meets at least once a year.
